For the ones doing the caring
Caregiving is hard. You shouldn't do it unsupported.
Family caregivers are the backbone of end-of-life care in Eastern Oregon — and the people most likely to neglect themselves. Here's what we provide, what to read, and where to turn when you're at the edge.
How hospice lightens the caregiver's load
- Hands-on training: our nurses teach you the skills — repositioning, medications schedules, what's normal and what's not — so you're never guessing.
- Aide visits: home health aides take over bathing and personal care, often the most physically and emotionally demanding tasks.
- A team member on the phone, always: 24/7. Symptom changes at night stop being emergencies and start being phone calls.
- Volunteers: companionship for your loved one and breathing room for you.
- Respite care: up to five days of inpatient care, covered, so you can rest — read how respite works.
- Someone to talk to: social workers and chaplains support you too — including 13 months of grief support after a loss.
